16. Enthusiasm

It furthers one to install helpers and to set armies marching.

The Universe has great Enthusiasm for your plans. You will be aided.

………………………………………………………………………………………….

Enthusiasm is the future of Difficulty in the Beginning. We were told to “install helpers” in the first changing line, and now, for the future, here is that advice again.

The Yi says: Whatever it is that you want to do, the Universe is in favor of it. So much so that the Universe is going to actively help!

Expect some serious synchronicity to occur in the future.

…………………………………………..

Synchronicity: an apparently meaningful coincidence of two or more or events that are causally unrelated.

3. Difficulty at the Beginning, Line 5

Difficulties in blessing.

You are doing the right thing, but others distort your message. You are losing confidence. Hang in there. Perseverance brings good fortune.

…………………………………………………………………………..

Difficulty at the Beginning, our main message, told us: the storm you are in will clear, leading to “supreme success.” Line 1 told us to appoint helpers. Line 4 told us to cooperate with others.

With Line 5, the Yi says: Someone is making your path to supreme success more difficult than it needs to be. Don’t give up. The Universe views your plans with . . . Enthusiasm.

Tomorrow: Our future reading: Enthusiasm

3. Difficulty at the Beginning, Line 4

Horse and wagon part. Strive for union.

……………………………………………………………………..

You are just getting started, and things are coming apart. You want to proceed in life according to your desires, plans, and expectations. You don’t want to have to deal with others.

The Yi says: You can’t be The Lone Gunman here. You will need to cooperate with others to overcome the Difficulty at the Beginning.

…………………………………………………..

Tomorrow: Line 5. “Difficulties in Blessing”

3. Difficulty at the Beginning

Difficulty at the beginning works supreme success.

The storm you are in will clear. Do not hide. Do not turn back. A new sense of order is about to emerge.

…………………………………………………………………

What kind of “storm” are you in? The pandemic? Covid has hit many lives like a tornado.

The Yi says: Supreme success is possible if you accept the difficulties inherent in the new situation. Hold on and work through it. Your reward will be great.

We received three changing lines, Lines 1, 4, and 5, to guide us through this storm.

……………………….

Tomorrow: Line 1: “Remain persevering . . . appoint helpers.”

47. Exhaustion

When one has something to say, it is not believed.

Your inner resources are exhausted, through no fault of your own. Let go of trying to force your own solution on the problem. Rest.

…………………………………………………………

In this time of Covid pandemic, the “something” you have to say may be a plea to your family members to get vaccinated. For whatever reason, they don’t believe in science, or they don’t care what effect their actions have on others.

The Yi says: Your many responsibilities have left you exhausted. You have taken on an extra fight that can’t be won. Let go of it for now, and just rest.

You don’t have to give up — just give it, and yourself, a rest.

Tomorrow: A new message for May 13, 2021.

45. Gathering, Line 2

“Letting oneself be drawn . . . “

Do you feel yourself being drawn to a particular person, or to a group, or lifestyle? Do not fight this attraction. The Wilhelm translation says, “There are secret forces at work, leading together those who belong together.

…………………………………………………………………..

Changing Line 2 is our only changing line to the main message of Gathering Together. It’s the closest “fortune” you will get from the I Ching to “You will meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger.”

The Yi says: The attraction you feel is important. You are meant to be with this person, group, or lifestyle. Let yourself be drawn to it.

Tomorrow: Our future reading: Exhaustion

45. Gathering

Gathering together brings success.

When you are not acting in accord with your Inner Truth, you will feel unsettled — conflicted and indecisive. But when you “get yourself together” and act in line with your Inner Truth, you will feel confident, energized, and also at peace.

…………………………………………………………………………

Are you faking enthusiasm for a relationship? Are you working at a job that requires people skills you just don’t have?

The Yi says: Get your s**t together. Don’t try to be something you’re not. Being true to yourself will be an enormous relief.

Tomorrow: Changing Line 2: ” . . . secret forces at work . . . “

18. Repair

Repair — ‘work on what has been spoiled’ — brings supreme success.

The difficulty you face is of your own making. You’re going to have to clean it up yourself. Your success will be great.

……………………………………………………………………………

Repair is the future reading of Decrease, with Changing Lines 1 and 3. The good news is: You can have “supreme success.” The bad news is: You’ve got to work at it.

The Yi says: You are in a situation that must be Repaired. You caused this, and it’s up to you to fix it. You’ve been avoiding it because you don’t want the humiliation of admitting you were wrong.

Do what you’ve got to do, and move on. Great things are waiting.

Tomorrow: A new reading, with a different twist.

41. Decrease, Line 3

Three people . . . decrease by one . . . one woman finds a companion.

Looking for a Significant Other? A person alone is more likely to make new connections.

…………………………………………………………………..

Do you go everywhere with friends or family? While it’s true there’s safety in numbers, when you’re in a group, your attention tends to go to other members of the group.

The Yi says: Go a few places by yourself. Extend yourself to make the first move toward others. In this way, you will find a true friend and companion.

This changing line reminds us: Decrease is not always bad. Sometimes it’s just what you need.

Tomorrow: Our future reading: 18. Decay/Repair

……

41. Decrease, Line 1

“Going quickly when one’s tasks are finished is without blame.”

Extend a helping hand to another, but don’t overdo it. And don’t demand recognition for your good deeds.

………………………………………………………………..

Line 1 is about the flip side of Decrease — when you are the one who is able to provide assistance.

The Yi says: Once you have provided what help you can — either because you have no more to give, or because the help is no longer needed — take your leave gracefully and quietly.

There is a human tendency to try to extend a helping hand into a controlling hand. The thought is, for example: “If I’m providing the money for this, we’re going to do it my way.”

Resist that urge. Do what you can to help, then be on your way.

Tomorrow: Line 3: “One woman finds a companion.”
