56. The Wanderer

“You will be moving on.”

Take care as you proceed in life not to enter into — or get dragged into — conflict that is not yours. You have what you need to succeed within you, no matter where life takes you.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

You will be moving into to a new environment or situation. Be cautious and respectful. Don’t be dragged into taking sides, or fighting someone else’s battles.

The Yi says: You will be moving on. Don’t let anyone or anything hold you back. You have all the qualities necessary to get where you want to go.

The Wanderer is a new message, and it came with two changing lines, Lines 2 and 4, which contain additional advice.

Tomorrow: Line 2: “She has her property with her.”

6. Conflict

You are sincere and are being obstructed.

You have a Conflict within yourself, or with another. You are in the right, but that won’t help. Back away from this Conflict.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Conflict is the future of our main message, Conduct. Conduct said you are dealing with a volatile person, and you need to be very careful getting around this “tiger.” If you are cautious, the “tiger” will not bite.

This future reading, Conflict, predicts you will run into an obstruction that is not your fault.

The Yi says: The Conflict you are experiencing is not your fault. There is really nothing you can do about it. Your best course of action is just to back away and continue carefully down your own path.

The Book of Changes is telling you: You can’t win ’em all. Move on.

Tomorrow: A new reading for June 17, 2021.

10. Conduct, Line 1

“Simple conduct.”

If you remain grounded in simplicity, you can progress. If you act out of restlessness or ambition, you will fail. Focus on the accomplishment, not the reward.

………………………………………………………………………………..

You are trying to build something, or achieve something. Don’t get ahead of yourself; take each step and complete it before moving on.

The Yi says: “Keep it simple, stupid.” Expecting too much, too soon will be fatal.

Example: You want to run a marathon. You can see yourself crossing the finish line first, to the roar of the crowd. Stop right there. Change your focus to something simpler to achieve, like improving your muscle strength or your cardiovascular fitness.

Keep in mind — “rewards” are bestowed by others, and they can be given or taken away at their whim. “Accomplishments,” like improving your strength, are yours to keep.

10. Conduct

. . . Treading on the tail of the tiger . . .

You must tread carefully now. You are dealing with a very volatile individual. Proceed with caution and care, and the tiger will not bite.

………………………………………………………………………………

Our new hexagram, received today, June 13, 2021, contains a very specific warning: Someone you must interact with is unstable and temperamental. It could be a boss, a co-worker, your mother, your next door neighbor — the possibilities are endless.

The Yi says: Whoever this is, don’t push their buttons. Don’t step on their tail. Proceed with small, careful steps in your own direction. The tiger will let you pass.

This is just one of many Book of Changes messages that urge you to keep your focus on where you want to go. Don’t spark any battles along the way if you don’t have to.

Tomorrow: Changing Line 1: “Simple conduct.”

4. Youthful Folly / Inexperience

At the first oracle I inform her . . . “

You wish to enter into a situation that is completely new to you. Admit your lack of knowledge and experience. Find a teacher, and follow her advice.

…………………………………………………………………..

Youthful Folly is the future of Splitting Apart. I prefer to call this hexagram Inexperience, which more accurately describes what the message is about.

The main message of Splitting Apart was “You cannot win right now. Don’t exhaust yourself trying.” We also received one changing line, Line 2, which said “What you think is a safe resting place is actually in danger of collapse.”

With this future reading, Inexperience, the Yi says: Your future is likely to be something you never planned on, or even imagined. You will need a guide.

Tomorrow: A new message from the I Ching.

23. Splitting Apart, Line 2

The bed is split to the edge.

What you think is a safe resting place is actually in danger of collapse. Don’t make any sudden moves.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Line 2 is the only changing line we received with the main message, Splitting Apart.

Often this “safe resting place” is a relationship that seems rock solid to you, but is actually disintegrating, bit by bit, as you turn more of your attention to your other responsibilities.

The Yi says: Your “safe resting place” hasn’t collapsed yet. Don’t panic. Look for ways to safely make repairs.

23. Splitting Apart

Splitting apart. It does not further one to go anywhere.

Inferior influences are on the rise. You cannot “win.” Accept this as an inevitable part of the cycle of life. Don’t exhaust yourself fighting a losing battle.

………………………………………………………………………………………….

“You win some, you lose some.” “Sometimes you get the elevator, sometimes you get the shaft.” Right now, you’re getting the shaft.

The Yi says: No matter how you say it, there are times when you just can’t win, no matter what you do, or how “right” you are. This is one of those times.

Don’t wear yourself out trying to hold things together.

59. Dispersion

“The wind drives over the water . . . “

A change will come, breaking up the fog that separates you from another. Strive for flexibility, acceptance, and balance.

…………………………………………………………………………………………

Dispersion is the future of Exhaustion, our main message. The first changing line, Line 4, cautioned you not to be carried down the wrong road, just because it’s easier than walking your own path. Line 6 said you are being held back by something you can break away from easily.

Now, with a future of Dispersion, the Yi says: Changes coming your way will clear the air between you and a significant other. You have been trying to force an old-fashioned structure on this relationship, but your efforts are Exhausting you.

New circumstances have changed the way the world works. Let go of trying to force something to happen, accept the world and this significant other as they are, now. The fog will Disperse.

Tomorrow: A new reading.

Exhaustion, Line 6

” . . . oppressed by creeping vines . . .”

Something is holding you back, but you need to realize theses “vines” can easily be broken. Once you accept this, and act to change, your situation will start to improve.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………..

What’s your “creeping vine?” Example: Weight gain from sitting at home during the Coronavirus pandemic, eating too much and exercising too little.

Or your vines may be the expectations of others.

The Yi says: The thing that is holding you back can be changed with very little effort on your part. Break free and get back on your own path.

Tomorrow: The future of Exhaustion: Dispersion, a change that will break up the fog separating you from another.

47. Exhaustion, Line 4

. . . oppressed in a golden carriage. Humiliation, but the end is reached.”

You have allowed yourself to be isolated by your status or privileges. You will not reach your goal until you ask for help from someone “below” you. This will embarrass you, but it will get you where you need to go.

………………………………………………………………………………………..

Line 4 is the first of two changing lines we received with the main message of June 4. Receiving Exhausted means you are worn out through no fault of your own. You were advised to rest.

With Line 4, the Yi says: You have separated yourself from others using your wealth or status. This “golden carriage” is not taking you where you want to go. You’re going to have to get out and walk in the direction of your choosing. You’ll need to ask for assistance, which you will find humiliating.

You really need to get over the notion that anyone is “below” you. (The Yi is looking at you, Karen!)
