61. Inner Truth, Line 1

If there are secret designs, it is disquieting.

Finding your Inner Truth depends on inner and outer honesty. If you have a hidden agenda, or are hedging your bets, in your relationship with others, it will cause misfortune.

………………………………………………………………………………………

Reaping the benefit of Inner Truth — “you can take on a great challenge and succeed” — requires you to be honest with others, as well as with yourself.

The Yi says: Be open with others about your Inner Truth. Once you have your feet on your true path, you can divert the energy you used to maintain the “secret design” to “cross the great water” instead.

Let’s say, for example, you’re a lesbian, and because your small town is still living in the 19th century, you have not exactly “come out.” Your friends and family are constantly trying to fix you up with “nice” young men. This is getting harder and harder to side-step. The I Ching advises you to share your Inner Truth with those around you, now, while times are favorable. It will free you to pursue your own interests.

We received one more changing line, Line 5, which expands on this message.

Tomorrow: Line 5: “Living your Inner Truth without apology will not separate you from others, as you fear.
